How have things at MML evolved since you joined back in 2007?

Although our funds have increased in size over that period, our investment approach has been pretty consistent – working alongside management teams as a true partner, delivering deals which are bespoke to their needs and acting as a catalyst to enable the next phase of a business’s growth. The team has gradually expanded, and it has been fantastic to see the talent within our business grow and develop.

Is there a deal that stands out in your memory?

Our investment into FrontierMEDEX was a real rollercoaster. We were negotiating a merger with a US target in parallel with completing our investment into the UK business. The merger completed three months after our original investment. No sooner had we rebranded, the business had an approach from a strategic investor who bought the business later that year. We were transacting on some element of the deal almost continuously for 18 months.

What does life outside MML look like?

I can generally be found either on the golf course or on the touchline/boundary rope watching my kids play sport.
