David was born and raised in Dublin where he studied Economics and Business at Trinity College Dublin and began his career in the Investment Strategy team at Davy. David moved to London in 2017, initially working as a strategy consultant at CIL before entering the world of private equity in 2020. David spent over 5 years at Inflexion, investing in mid-market businesses across a variety of sectors and leading origination activities in Ireland. He completed 5 platform deals in his time there, joining the board of each and successfully exiting 2 (ATG & Goat) before joining MML in 2026.

What most attracted you to joining the MML team?

I am a firm believer that in any business the driver of success is the people, and I like to surround myself with people that are hard-working, smart, ambitious, low ego, and most importantly, fun to work with. These qualities describe the people and culture at MML, both internally and in the approach to partnering with the founders and management teams of the businesses we invest in. I think this culture is genuinely unique in the private equity industry and was the main driver for me to join MML.

What do you most enjoy about being an investor?

As private equity investors we are essentially professional backers of people. What I enjoy most is working with great management teams that have big ambitions and helping them to hit the accelerator on their growth plans, whether that is going international, expanding service lines or doing M&A

I like delving into the inner workings of a business, identifying the key growth levers and helping management build their strategy around these factors, then acting as a sounding board and offering support where I can as they go and execute it - that is the most satisfying part of this job.

What does life look like when you leave the office?

Spending time with friends and family, whether that's on the golf course, watching live sport or in a great pub or restaurant.
