MML Paris commits to supporting Aux Captifs La Libération

This year, our French office chose to support the Valgiros shared housing initiative for our annual charity day.

Aux Captifs La Libération supports homeless and marginalised individuals through social reintegration actions, helping them find stability and a roof over their heads through shared housing projects like Valgiros. These living spaces offer former homeless individuals a safe environment where they can gradually rebuild their lives, supported by a dedicated and caring team. The organisation also works to restore social connections by allowing people who have experienced homelessness to live alongside volunteers, helping residents envision a more hopeful future.

Our Paris team spent the day at the Valgiros residence, where they had the opportunity to meet residents, hear their stories, and share meaningful moments with them. The day began with a shared breakfast, allowing everyone to get acquainted. Then, together, they set about refreshing the communal areas, particularly the outdoor spaces, by tending to the garden, courtyard, and outdoor furniture. Part of the day was also dedicated to interior work, including assembling furniture, deep cleaning the communal kitchen, and reorganising spaces. A shared lunch followed, giving our team a better understanding of the work done by the volunteers and staff of the organisation and offering more opportunities to interact with the residents.

We were very touched by the warm welcome from residents and volunteers and inspired by their courageous journeys.

The day concluded with a strong sense of solidarity and the satisfaction of having accomplished meaningful work. With thousands of people living without a home in France, there are many ways to support associations like Aux Captifs La Libération and to contribute, each in our own way, to a more compassionate and inclusive society. As we come to the end of this year, our Paris office have decided to support several associations. Having already made a donation to Aux Captifs La Libération to improve the outdoor furniture so residents can enjoy a more welcoming and comfortable outdoor area, we are planning to make a second donation at Christmas to bring added joy during the festive season. In addition, we have also donated to La Sauvegarde 93, which helps children at risk. Our contribution will enable the 140 children supported by the association to receive Christmas gifts this year. Lastly, we are also proud to support Les Joyeux Petits Souliers, an association that highlights the culture and challenges of the Ukrainian people through the determination and commitment of its children. Through these simple actions, we aim to bring some comfort and joy during the holiday season.
